UNIF/X Provides Intranet Development |
-- Web Sites as Gateways to Interact with Back End Databases --
|
November 3, 1995 - New York, NY - UNIF/X Inc., the widely recognized database technology experts today introduced their World Wide Web Division. The new division will specialize in building Intranet systems and Web sites with integrated back end database applications. Linking business systems to the Internet will allow companies to achieve the productivity and efficiency benefits of serving both customers and employees on-line. The company also provides innovative security services to protect private data. "New techniques and languages for Web site development, including Java, are enabling us to build highly cost-effective corporate Intranets and profit generating Web sites, " said Donna Oliva, President of UNIF/X. "Our database and development experience perfectly position us to serve the huge number of companies that need to build or restructure their Intranets and Web sites." In addition to building corporate Intranets, UNIF/X helps clients create truly interactive sites that will help them sell products, services and information. For example, a business that normally uses traditional marketing and sales methods to sell products can now effectively put up a "store" on the web. Customers will be able to access a database of items for sale, and place orders on-line. With the technology provided by UNIF/X, when a customer places an order, the data relating to that order will be seamlessly routed to the vendor's existing order management, accounting, and inventory control systems. Many businesses are also being developed as start-ups. Specifically to take advantage of the rapidly growing consumer market surfing the web. UNIF/X works with both existing and new businesses who want to get on-line. Businesses can also provide instant pre- and post-sales customer service and support by allowing their sales staff and customers to access information currently available only through company employees who have immediate access to internal business systems. For example, sales staff can get product and pricing information - including daily specials, and place orders on-line. In addition to placing orders on-line as well, Customers can submit search criteria (i.e. get an account balance), and receive query results immediately (see the amount of credit left in their account). Customers and other users can also access information through your Web site, whether it is current and changing (airline arrivals) or historical and static (last five years of returns on mutual funds) data. Many companies are combining their Intranet and Web servers to allow employees in remote offices to run distributed applications over the net. They are also using internal Web sites with integrated back end database systems as information servers where they can post company and employee information. "Building a truly interactive Intranet or Internet Web site involves careful planning, " said Donna Oliva, President of UNIF/X. "It should allow the visitor to easily understand what to do in order to access and efficiently work with the back end system. In effect, the Web page serves as the user-friendly interface, or database application front-end. Of course, the back end system should also be robust enough to serve the large number of employees and/or customers surfing the net, and secure enough to keep them out of systems that should remain proprietary." UNIF/X has strategic alliances with most major database and hardware vendors. The company also works closely with a number of leading companies who specialize in high-end Web Page design and content development. |
