Declaring that we need "More jobs, more freedom, and a smaller, less intrusive government, " Grant M. Lally today announced his candidacy for U. S. Congress. Lally is running for Congress in New York's Fifth Congressional District challenging Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-Jamaica). Lally earlier in the day announced his candidacy in Bayside, Queens.

In Nassau County, Lally was joined by the Executive Director of the Nassau County Republican Party Tony Santino, the Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature Bruce Blakeman, and Lally's representative in the Nassau County Legislature, John Canning.

"We need lower taxes, a smaller government, safer streets and communities, and more jobs for our community," declared Grant Lally during his announcement. "I will fight to reduce taxes and help bring businesses back into the district."

"We need a representative who actually lives in our community," added Lally. "Gary Ackerman lives and votes in Nita Lowey's (D-Westchester) district. I am already one vote ahead since he can't even vote for himself!"

"Gary Ackerman was thrown off the House Ethics Committee in disgrace, he cast the deciding vote for the largest tax increase in American history, and he voted for the early release of convicted felons," stated Lally.

"Ackerman has taken to attacking young mothers and community leaders. His attacks on Ginny Volpe, a young mother and community leader in East Northport, is nothing more than Beauty and the Beast," Lally continued.

"Ackerman has spent eighteen years on the government payroll at taxpayers expense," concluded Lally. "And this November the voters will say that eighteen years of Gary Ackerman is long enough."
