"Congressman Gary Ackerman (D-Jamaica) is public enemy number one of private homeowners," stated Grant Lally. "Ackerman has been branded an enemy of homeowners by the League of Private Property Owners. Homeowners deserve to hear the truth on Ackerman's abysmal record toward home ownership."

Lally was referring to a scorecard produced by the non-partisan League of Private Property Voters. Ackerman's zero grade gave him the dubious distinction of being labeled as an "Enemy of Private Property Rights".

"Ackerman has a consistent track record of supporting public housing over private home ownership," Lally continued. "Ackerman even voted against Jack Kemp's project HOPE which have allowed low-income families to own their own homes."

"And look at what Ackerman has supported," Lally continued. "Public housing projects like Matinecock Court in East Northport, a huge transient housing project in the middle of a peaceful community."

"Being a vocal supporter of the McKinney Act, Ackerman supports turning Ft. Totten in Bayside into a huge homeless shelter, with hundreds of homeless men wander the quiet streets of Bayside and Whitestone by day and night," continued Lally.

"In voting for the 1993 tax increase, which hit our district fifth hardest in all of America, Ackerman voted for a gas tax that hits everyone that owns a car," continued Lally. "Being a bedroom community where we commute to our jobs, this tax hits us every day."

"It's no wonder that Ackerman is public enemy number one for homeowners" Lally continued. "Ackerman lives off public money, will have a million-dollar pension paid for by our tax dollars, and actively pushes low-income housing projects in our peaceful communities. What does this extremist liberal know about our community, anyway?

"Ackerman does not even live in our district."

Ackerman has even called residents of Long Island 'statistically insignificant' to his re-election," added Lally. "Ackerman is an Enemy of Private Property Owners. Ackerman has been living off hard working taxpayers for eighteen years, and eighteen years of Gary Ackerman is long enough."
