GARY ACKERMAN, LAW SUIT CRAZY

"Congressman Gary Ackerman (D-Jamaica) is acting like the waterboy for the litigation crazed American Trial Lawyers of America by filing frivolous complaints against me," stated Grant Lally. "Ackerman takes ATLA's money, votes against legal reform, and files silly legal complaints against me. Ackerman's actions do not benefit our country, they just go to serve Gary Ackerman."

Lally was referring to a recent $2,500 contribution Ackerman received from the notorious trial lawyers lobby in exchange for voting against H.R. 988 (3/7/95), H.R. 956 (3/10/95) and H.R. 58 (3/8/95), common sense legal reforms that would reduce frivolous claims, unnecessary paperwork, and save small businesses from legal costs that arise from frivolous lawsuits.

"Gary Ackerman is just a tool of the bureaucracy. As a matter of fact, he is a receiver of PAC money from the American Federation of Government Employees, the 'Bureaucrat PAC,'" and he has received a perfect 100% score from that special interest group in voting for more government paperwork," Lally continued. "This is probably why Ackerman feels so comfortable filing frivolous complaints against me."

"President Clinton ought to appoint Ackerman as his Czard on Paperwork, this way we might actually find a purpose for Ackerman to receive a government check every week," Lally concluded. "Ackerman does not have one single issue he can debate me on, so he has to file frivolous lawsuits to keep his special interest friends happy. Gary Ackerman has spent eighteen years on the public payroll where he has accomplished absolutely nothing, and eighteen years of Gary Ackerman is long enough."
