GARY ACKERMAN: DOUBLETALK

Congressman Gary Ackerman says he is not beholden to the Washington lobbyists that control many career politicians. However, after eighteen years on the taxpayer payroll, Ackerman has been corrupted by big money buying influence.

GARY ACKERMAN TALKING:
Mr. Ackerman said he receives a small amount of money from political action committees. He also said the organizations have gotten an unfair and poor reputation. "It happens to be one of the finest reforms," he said. "Most PACs are working people. It does not buy influence. People do it because they believe in what you do."
