STOP MATINECOCK COURT, CONGRESSMAN ACKERMAN

"We must have real full - equity housing, not disastrous schemes imposed from outside," declared Grant Lally, stating his position on the Matinecock Court housing development. "As it stands now, Congressman Gary Ackerman (D - Queens) is still trying to force a massive government housing project on East Northport, and that is wrong."

"12 million dollars for the Matinecock Court project comes through federal grants," Lally continued. "The total pricetag for Matinecock Court approaches 20 million dollars. If full - equity housing cannot be reached, we should cut off funding."

"Any new development in East Northport should protect the community. East Northport is a family community. Right now Matinecock Court would be nothing but a glorified transient rental park. Property values in East Northport would go down. The current Matinecock Court project should be stopped," Lally stated.

"I believe in protecting our neighborhood. Gary Ackerman is a big - government social engineer. Unlike Ackerman, I would never "broker a deal" against the best interests of my community. Maybe Gary Ackerman should move into our Congressional district so he would have a better understanding of us. Gary Ackerman has spent the past eighteen years on the public payroll working against our needs and working for the likes of Donald Manes, Mario Cuomo, and now, David Bonior and Dick Gephart, " Lally concluded. "And eighteen years of Gary Ackerman is long enough."
