Sybase DBA Skills No Longer Hard To Find

February 5, 1996 - New York, NY - UNIF/X Inc. has announced a unique training program designed to provide database professionals with all the knowledge they need to perform the daily tasks of a Sybase DBA, all in one course.

The UNIF/X Sybase DBA Skills training course is unique in the way that it focuses on giving students real life experience building databases and addressing problems that occur daily in complex distributed environments. Students will learn no theory and all practice.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to install Sybase, build, populate, maintain and recover Sybase databases, manage Sybase data, and optimize a Sybase RDBMS using newly acquired knowledge of Sybase internals, memory allocation, performance tuning, partitioning, segmentation, bottleneck elimination, and query optimization. The course also includes project work based on the real life experiences of Sybase DBA'S. Participants will create, configure, crash and recover Sybase databases in class.

All classes are taught in UNIF/X laboratories in the Wall Street area of New York City, where each individual will work with Sybase in UNIX on their own Sun workstation. All instructors are Sybase Certified Professionals as well as corporate DBA's, and have current work experience on major Sybase installations.

"Our comprehensive program will teach all there is to know in one course. Students should be well prepared to complete the exams necessary to earn Sybase's official designation as a Sybase Certified Professional DBA," said Donna Oliva, President of UNIF/X. "The same information would be spread out over three to four courses in other training programs, and cost twice as much as our course."

Separate tracks are offered for different skill levels. Track one teaches Sybase DBA skills for non-UNIX database professionals at a cost of $2,500 per student (40 hour course). Track two teaches DBA skills for UNIX/Sybase Developers at a cost of $2,000 per student (30 hour course). Group discounts are also available.
