Selected Database Projects
In one project for a major Financial Ratings Publisher, we migrated over 500,00 lines of NOMAD code from an IBM mainframe to a C, Unix (Sun), Sybase environment in only 4 months. The client had originally estimated 1.5 years to complete this project. Using proprietary tools and methods for rapid migration, we were able to simultaneously map and convert data and applications, with minimal interruption to the customer's business operations. The customer saved over $5 Million on this project.
Global DB Replication Due to increasing global dependencies, one major international Investment Bank asked UNIF/X to design a customized data replication system that would allow analysts in all of their international offices to access data residing on heterogeneous RDBMS in New York, London and Tokyo. The client had only 2 months and limited resources to devote, and further demanded that the solution be scaleable so that they could include additional foreign exchanges in the replication schema as necessary, on their own. Drawing on experience gained during our long history of involvement with replication technology, we successfully developed a solution to meet all of the client's needs.
Database Design & Architecture A major Broker/Dealer decided to begin providing Bond-Pricing Services as a new offering to their customers. They created a bond pricing system on Sybase, UNIX and Sun, but were experiencing significant performance problems and data losses due to poor database design and system implementation. UNIF/X redesigned their database structures to optimize performance, improved data feeding applications, and established procedures for ongoing, reliable system operations. The client has since established itself as an emerging leader in the provision of Bond-Pricing Services, winning several major accounts as a result of the superior quality of their databases and bond pricing system.
Replication Product Development
UNIF/X developers implemented the first generally available software product providing data replication, high availability and fault tolerance for distributed database systems*. Over 120,000 lines of code in C and
Security Issuing & Tracking System One major international Bank wanted to implement a new asset sales management system to issue and manage over $20 Billion in securities backed by a portfolio of its credit card receivables. The client did not have the in-house expertise to fully implement the project, and unexpected changes in system requirements caused them to fall far behind the original development schedule. UNIF/X helped define solutions to speed up development of this complicated system. Using custom designed libraries written in C and C++, our engineers put development back on track, and completed the entire project on time.
